AMD reported revenue of $1.57 billion for second quarter, net income of $61 million, or $0.08 per share, and operating income of $105 million.

The quarter continued the momentum of the Fusion era, with record microprocessor unit shipments and record mobile microprocessor unit shipments driven by the strength of the APU platform. APUs now represent 70% of AMD's total mobile platform unit shipments and revenue. Since the first APUs began shipping late last year, we have shipped more than 12M Llano and Brazos APUs in total.

CFO and Interim CEO Thomas Seifert said, "In the first half of 2011, AMD brought to market the most competitive client offerings in our history, reinforcing our position as a design and innovation powerhouse. Today's computing experience is increasingly being defined by the ability to deliver brilliant multimedia and video content with all day battery life. Fusion APUs are ideal to meet this need, positioning AMD to gain unit market share in the mobile computing space."

The success of APUs demonstrates AMD have the right strategy to deliver the differentiated products that the market wants over the long-term, paving the way for AMD to take a more equitable share of the 360 million units per year and growing computing market.

"In the second quarter AMD also accelerated our tablet roadmap. We believe the IP in our Fusion APUs is ideally suited for tablets. We launched our first tablet APU in June, we added a new tablet APU for 2012 that will complement Microsoft's next generation of Windows and its advances on the tablet operating system front, and we now plan a groundbreaking APU in 2013 we plan to introduce an optimized tablet APU capable of re-defining what users will expect from a tablet."

"AMD remains committed to the server market and we are focused on returning the business to a growth trajectory. We expect to begin shipping our first server platform featuring the "Bulldozer" x86 core this quarter. The "Interlagos" platform is our first server offering optimized for today's cloud data centers and the architecture excels at compute-intensive and HPC workloads where it will deliver up to 35 percent performance improvements compared to our current offerings."
