Partners with ASBIS Distribute McAfee Retail Solutions Throughout Growing Russian Market

Santa Clara, Calif. – July 2, 2012 – McAfee and ASBIS announce a partnership to deliver McAfee consumer solutions including McAfee® Anti-Virus Plus, McAfee Internet Security and McAfee Total Protection to retailers across Russia. McAfee is entering the fast-growing consumer market and will offer solutions through ASBIS’ network of retail partners. McAfee have chosen to partner with ASBIS because they are one of Russia’s leading retail distributors. ASBIS will also distribute McAfee solutions in Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

“Today’s consumers use their computers and the Internet as a part of their daily lives and it is important that they feel safe and secure when doing so,” said Nick Viney, VP Consumer, Mobile and Small Business, McAfee EMEA. “Our partnership with ASBIS enables consumers in Russia to buy McAfee’s market-leading solutions to allow them to safely use the internet and protect themselves from malware, viruses and cyber criminals.”

For the first time, McAfee solutions will be in retail stores throughout Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The retail sector is the largest business sector in Russia and, therefore, important for McAfee. Russia will be the 4th biggest PC/Notebook market in the world by 2012 according to IDC.

“There has been explosive growth of threats so it is important that Russian consumers have market-leading solutions,” commented Vladimir Levakov, general director at ASBIS Russia. “Concerns around cyber-security continue to rise and McAfee solutions offer outstanding protection with great ease-of-use. This agreement is also extremely important to OEMs and System Integrators, ASBIS’ usual customer stacks, as it opens huge opportunities in their businesses.”

McAfee solutions provide market-leading protection from viruses and other threats. McAfee solutions scan and block dangerous emails, risky web content and online threats like viruses, Trojans, spyware, and rootkits. Cybercriminals are masters of disguise. McAfee Active Protection™ immediately looks at suspicious material and determines its risk to help keep computers secure. Extra layers of Internet security software block cyber criminals breaking in or sneaking out with personal information. This traffic cop patrols non-stop to prevent malicious software from gaining access to your PC. It permanently destroys sensitive files to ensure that they cannot be retrieved by other users when you donate, recycle, lend or upgrade your PC.

McAfee now blocks stealthy botnet software by denying its attempts to connect your PC to web addresses that belong to criminals. This extra defence helps prevent computers from sending out personal information to Internet crime networks. Portable storage devices can be infected in their travels, spreading malicious code from system to system. McAfee scans and blocks portable storage devices for viruses, Trojans and worms before they can wriggle into a PC and network. Many people get McAfee protection because they are already infected. McAfee works to remove infections as the software installs.
