To Yuri Antoshkin, COO of Prestigio, this partnership represents a significant step towards an increase of market share of Prestigio. Yuri Antoshkin,, a Kubuntu enthusiast himself, says: "I have always been fascinated by the idea of the open source concept and the innovative potential of the Linux community is amazing. I have the vision to offer price alternatives to our customers while granting top performance, comfort and security. Canonical, as the driver in open source software development and promotion, is the perfect partner to support our philosophy."

Vladimir Kryukov, EMEA OEM Channel Manager of Canonical Ltd., envisions significant benefits for the objectives of both companies: “We are fond of the cooperation with an international partner, who supports the development and recognizes an Open Source OS as a strategic tool. We are convinced that users of Prestigio Suite 2010 on Kubuntu will contribute to further spread and improvement of Kubuntu and related software. Open Source is an international project of ongoing improvement and is relies on the support of partners."

Kubuntu is an official derivative of the Ubuntu operating system using the KDE graphical environment instead of GNOME. It is part of the Ubuntu project and uses the same underlying system. "Kubuntu", pronounced /kuːˈbuːntuː/ koo-BOON-too, means "towards humanity" in Bemba, and is derived from ubuntu ("humanity"). The K at the beginning represents the KDE desktop/applications which Kubuntu runs. By coincidence, Kubuntu also means "free" in Kirundi.
